2025 in Review: Our Year of Progress

Well, what a year that was. At the start of the year, I said it was going to be an odd one, with a slight hint of optimism. That mindset stayed with me, but the reality is that it has been a brutal year for many construction companies. Our commitment to maintaining a healthy and financially stable foundation has kept us moving forward, but it has been difficult watching our industry peers struggle along the way.

In saying that, we’ve still managed to complete a number of high-quality projects, and we’re incredibly proud of our team for digging in and working through a challenging workload. A real highlight has been launching our Minor Dwellings. We’ve kicked off our first official build – our beautiful Tūī design, now under construction for a wonderful family in Titirangi, Auckland:

What we’ve learned is that while the Minor Dwelling designs are a great starting point, council rules and bylaws still present plenty of challenges. There’s rarely a one-size-fits-all solution, but that’s something we’ve come to embrace. We’re proud of how our team adapts, guides, and walks alongside our clients from design right through to completion, and we’re constantly working on improving that journey.

It hasn’t all been about Minor Dwellings either. We’ve completed a number of renovations and wrapped up our flagship Show Home in the Waikato. We’re also continuing to innovate and bring fresh ideas to the table. Recently, we launched our Lifestyle Spaces by Our Projects – small corners of paradise right on your doorstep. Our first design, a dedicated Golf Simulator space, has already sparked plenty of interest:

But that’s just the beginning. Whether it’s a yoga studio, a movie room, or a creative space for the kids, we can help shape something tailored specifically for you.

Looking ahead, the new year is already shaping up to be busy. Enquiries are increasing and market confidence seems to be returning. At the same time, the legislative framework is shifting. With the RMA on its way out and a more property-rights-focused approach being discussed, we expect to see some positive movement – along with the usual unintended consequences. Rest assured, we’ll stay across the changes and continue putting our best foot forward to support you on your custom build journey, whether you’re planning a renovation, new build, lifestyle space, or something entirely different.

For now, I’ll be taking a break with my family to reset and return refreshed for another rotation around the sun. From both Ryan and me, thank you for your support this year. To our past clients, we appreciate you deeply, and to those we haven’t worked with yet, we look forward to the opportunity.
