FAQS
Beyond the specifics of each service, here are some general questions our clients often ask about working with Our Projects – from getting started to what you can expect throughout your building journey.
Getting Started
How do I get started with my building project?
The first step is to get in touch! You can call us on 022 473 3215, email us, or arrange a free initial consultation here. During this meeting, we'll discuss your vision, budget, timeline, and site requirements. From there, we'll guide you through our proven building process and help you understand what to expect at each stage.
Should I have plans ready before contacting you?
Not at all! Many of our clients come to us with just an idea or a rough sketch. We can help you develop your vision from concept through to completion. If you prefer, we also have architecturally designed house plans available that can be customised to suit your needs – view our plans here. Alternatively, if you already have detailed plans from an architect, we're happy to work with those too.
What areas do you service?
We operate across Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland and the Waikato regions. Our offices are located in Eden Terrace, Auckland, and Ngāhinapōuri, Waikato, which allows us to efficiently service projects throughout both regions. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, please get in touch and we'll let you know.
What types of projects do you specialise in?
We specialise in home renovations (including villa and bungalow renovations), bathroom renovations, minor dwelling builds, new home builds, and golf simulator room builds. Whether you're looking to refresh a single room or undertake a complete new build, our team has the expertise to deliver quality results.
Working with us
Why should I choose a certified builder?
Choosing a certified builder gives you peace of mind. We're independently verified to meet high standards, members of the New Zealand Certified Builders Association (NZCB), and Licensed Building Practitioners (LBP). All our new builds and renovations come with a 10-year residential guarantee, and we're committed to transparent communication and quality craftsmanship throughout your project. Learn more about our certifications here.
Who handles the consents and council requirements?
We take care of all building consent applications, resource consents (where required), and liaison with Auckland and Waikato councils on your behalf. We know the local regulations inside out and will ensure your project meets all compliance requirements. You won't need to worry about the paperwork – we've got it covered.
Can you work with my architect or designer?
Yes! We're happy to work with plans you've already had drawn up by your architect or designer. We collaborate with design professionals regularly and can seamlessly integrate into your existing project team. If you don't have plans yet, we can also help you develop your design from scratch or offer our architecturally designed house plans that can be customised to your needs.
What if I need to make changes during the build?
We understand that sometimes you'll want to adjust things as the project takes shape. If you'd like to make changes, just let us know and we'll discuss the implications for timeline and cost. We'll provide clear pricing for any variations and obtain your approval before proceeding. Our goal is to keep you informed and ensure you're happy with every decision along the way.
Project Timeline + Process
How long will my project take?
Project timelines vary depending on the scope and complexity of the work. A bathroom renovation typically takes 2-4 weeks, a golf simulator room around 4 weeks, while minor dwellings and full renovations can take several months. New home builds generally require 6-12 months from start to finish. We'll provide you with a realistic timeline during the consultation phase and keep you updated throughout the project so there are no surprises.
What is your building process?
We follow a proven eight-stage process: 1) Discovery call, 2) Site visit, 3) Preliminary agreement, 4) Project review, 5) Building agreement, 6) Construction phase, 7) Handover, and 8) Follow-up. At each stage, you'll know exactly what's happening, what comes next, and when. Learn more about our building process here.
How do you keep me informed during the build?
Communication is key to a successful project. We provide regular updates throughout the construction process and are always available to answer questions. You'll have direct contact with your project manager, and we'll schedule regular site meetings to discuss progress. We also have a special client portal where you can access project information and manage important documents including warranties.
What happens if you encounter unexpected issues during construction?
It's not uncommon to discover issues like old wiring, plumbing problems, or structural concerns once work begins – especially with renovation projects. We'll always discuss any findings with you immediately, explain the implications, and provide clear options with transparent pricing. Our experienced team is skilled at identifying potential issues early and finding practical solutions that keep your project on track.
Costs + Payment
How much will my project cost?
Project costs vary widely depending on the scope, specifications, and finishes you choose. As a guide, bathroom renovations range from $900-$1,400+ per square metre, minor dwellings typically cost between $200,000-$300,000, and golf simulator rooms start from around $45,000. We provide detailed, itemised quotes with no hidden costs, so you'll know exactly what you're getting for your investment. View our house plans for packages that include detailed cost breakdowns.
Do you provide fixed-price contracts?
Yes, we work on fixed-price contracts for most projects. This means the price we quote is the price you pay, provided there are no changes to the scope of work or unexpected site conditions. If variations arise, we'll discuss these with you and obtain your approval before proceeding with any additional work.
When is payment due?
Payment is typically structured in progress payments throughout the project, aligned with specific milestones. The exact payment schedule will be outlined in your contract, and we'll always communicate clearly when payments are due. We accept bank transfers and other payment methods – our team will discuss payment options with you during the contract phase.
Do you offer any warranties on your work?
Yes! We stand behind our work with comprehensive warranties. All our new builds and major renovations come with a 10-year residential guarantee, which is a universal obligation for qualified and licensed builders in New Zealand. We also conduct a 12-month follow-up to ensure everything is working perfectly. Additionally, manufacturer warranties on fixtures and materials vary from 10-25 years depending on the products used. We provide a special client portal where you can manage all your warranty documents in one place.
